Development and Re-development
New development is crucial in ensuring we have a strong, healthy tax base for our future. However, we need to ensure that we continue with smart development. I am a strong advocate that future growth in Woodbury should be done using Planned Unit Developments (PUDs) that ensure newer developments are built with a variety of housing types, integrate parks and trails, and have ample opportunity for nearby amenities.
Over the last few years, our city has seen rapid development in the southern part of Woodbury (also known as Phase II). This development has boosted our tax base and enabled many new families to call Woodbury home. However, circumstances have changed in the last 12 months, and until we have a permanent water treatment solution in place, new development must be done carefully, and only if we are certain we can keep up with our water demand.
As our city ages, re-development will become an ever-increasing priority. One achievement I'm proud to have been a part of is the design and implementation of a large-scale re-development project near 494 and Woodlane Drive. This re-development will make the area more functional, align with current design standards, bring new business to Woodbury, and increase property values.
